Managers Corner

Sauchie gave a very good account of themselves in a tight match yesterday against a strong and experienced Dundonald Bluebell side. After a very even first half the home side came out fighting in the second half and dominated for spells however they couldn’t take advantage of their opportunities.

After the match we caught up with manager Frazer Duncan to get his thoughts:

Give us your thoughts on today’s game?

“Happy with our attitude towards the game plan and our work rate and organisation was much better than last week. Obviously we made five changes to last weeks team but they were needed to show the competition for places is there for everyone. Overall we are happy with the point against a very good and experienced Dundonald side and if anything probably a little disappointing that we didn’t capitalize on our chances especially second half. I thought we had four or five six yard box scuffles and chances but just could not get the vital goal. We defended well against a trouble some front three.”

A strong Second half performance but just unable to convert the chances, I know your looking for a striker how’s the search going?

“Like I have said it was clear we were the better side in the second half and deserved more from the game but that’s what happens when we can’t convert chances. We need to find the finishing touch from somewhere and quickly”

Start performance of the day?

“I don’t like to single out any one player but today me performance was good and we were dominant in key areas. Jon Tully for me has been outstanding since his arrival. Great to get gid game time under Mark Mooney’s belt. Good performances from most lads today and craig Donaldson is getting into the groove and when we get the right frontline his game will really kick in. Mark sharp today was also excellent. His attitude work rate has been outstanding and is now playing a huge part in this team as he should be.”

Obviously since coming back in you’ve made a few changes to the playing squad is there more business to be done?

“Yes most certainly business to be done. We as a management team still believe we need to add at least two strikers and they need to be quality and goal scorers simple as that. As a team we are good and by far good enough to stay in the league and it’s up to me now to provide they strikers who will provide the finishing touch. Speaking to just about every striker going so just waiting on someone taking the chance and becoming a hero”

Keep an eye out on the website as we look to catch up with Darren Petrie later in the week.
